I received a few cuttings of Martin's Unknown. After being dragged into Mold War I and losing, I am search for someone who might have year old, index finger sized Martin's Unknown cuttings and want to share.

Please email or PM. Thanks in advance.

I saw that you not only have a problem with mold; but, you also have a war going on with Fungus gnat larvae too. Those are definitely FGLs. Adding a little soap to your soaking water will help drown them. FYI that is one of the possible downsides to rooting in SM. There are alternate rooting methods and medium that do not present these problems.

Good luck in your search for Martins's Unknown. Have you started rooting the cuttings that I have sent to you??

RE: In Search of Martin's Unknown

Dan,

Thanks for the reminder about the soap and the luck.

I just finished editing my post on F4F for clarity. These cuttings were *not* rooted in Sphagnum. I went direct to cup in Turface:Perlite:Pro-Mix BX a 1:1:1. I presumed the Pro-Mix was gnat free given how I store and use it with the other cuttings just next door but I will reserve judgment until I see what happens with the cuttings post worm drowning. Mold War I and Worm War I were two different types but from the same source.

Yes. I have started those cuttings. Thanks again.

I concerning those cuttings. It would be nice to get your opinion. Meanwhile, over the next 7-10 days, I suspect I will have good roots.

As an aside, I like the baggie method. When I have the time, the daily check-in and potential fuzzy clean up or wipe off is invaluable. When I am on the travel however...it is a different story.
