Al's Mix-Advice

Hello

I am looking for some input/advice on those of you who have experience with Tapla's suggested Fig mix for containers:
1 Part Pine Bark
1 Part Turface
1 Part Granite
lime

Here it goes:
1) I have transitioned about 15 plants of my 50+ into the pine/turface/granite mix and so far I think the soil is performing well. Dumb question: how would you rate the fruit production from your containerized plants in your mix versus other mixes: Average, Above Average, Outstanding?
2) What varieties have performed best for you in that mix specific to zones 5-7?
3) Generally, how often (number of years)are you root pruning your fig plants? All of mine will be in 5-7 gallon pots eventually and will stay for the most part in that size due the quantity.
4) When you root prune as you have described, do you see any reduction in the amount of fruit on those trees for the forthcoming growing season?

I would really appreciate any experiences as it relates to this mix.
Thanks all!
Nas

Nas - Since I answered this in email format not long ago, I'm assuming you're looking for additional input from others, but I thought I should ask. Are we on the same page? ;o)

Al
