Whether to let Brown turkey fig tree go dormant...

| Hi all, hoping someone can help me. I've read other threads on the "Fig" forum and I couldn't quite get the answer I needed. Basically, I just bought a Brown turkey tree, potted, about 3 feet tall. It's Feb 2010 in Mass. here, so it's the middle of winter. I'm wondering whether I should let the tree go dormant, say covered up in my garage (30-50 degree temps), or if I should bring the plant indoor and in a South-facing window. If I had owned the tree from the summer time, I'd know the answer. But I just bought this from a local nursery, and I don't know what the tree has been through. It still has many leaves, and even has some fruits! So I'm wondering if letting the tree go dormant is the wrong thing to do at this point... Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance, -Al |

| Al, I'm also in MA. I'm up in the Merrimack Valley. Which local nursery did you buy your fig tree from? I'd like to go check it out if it's not too far from me. Joe |
