Looking for cuttings

Posted by keaganp 3 Calgary (My Page) on

I have recently become interested in figs, and have been wanting to start my own indoor collection, but there is no where around me that sells them.

Does anyone have any cuttings that they could possibly part with?

Much appreciation,
Keagan

RE: Looking for cuttings

Actually, you do have a fig sage in Canada, Adriano at adrianosfigtrees.com . Adriano is the Jon Verdick (pitandiego) of Canada. I hope to one day meet him and eat figs.

There are some others from Canada who can give advice on growing in your zone.

If you don't get responses from fellow Canadians, then email me if you're desperate. It's cheaper and less hassle (with the agriculture dept) if you don't have to mail cuttings across the border.
Otherwise, we have about 2 more weeks before spring comes and I still have about a 3 foot long twig to prune off my violette de bordeuaux fig. It's wandered off the espalier and will go to compost soon...

Parkwood1,
I have tried to get in touch, but it seems you do not have your account set to receive emails. Please contact me.
As for Keagan you and me both, I am trying to get my own fig collection started, shoot me an email I will have some Desert Fig cuttings ready come spring.

I may have just a few cuttings left that you can practice rooting with it. Email me.
Also, you may contact Grimo Nut Nursery in Niagra on the Lake who sells one year old air-layered plants for reasonable price. They are taking orders for April shipping:

Also, you have just been told about Adriano: http://www.adrianosfigtrees.com/varieties.html

Also, can you imagin DNA Gardens near you (in Alberta) have a couple of varieties for sale! Their website is hard to navigate though (& closed for the winter).

Keagan,

Don't know when but the next time I visit Alberta ( Calgary ) I will let you know. I was there two weeks before Christmas, Had I known then then you would have been taken care of.
