Figs near other fruits?

Ernie

I have a very limited amount of space, but I'd like add two or three in ground figs this year. The only opening I have is in partial sun (6-7 hours) and within 8-10 feet of existing fruit trees. I manage the existing trees very intensively -- they're on 4' centers and all are kept to a maximum height of about 7' -- and I'll manage the figs similarly. Do I need to be concerned that the figs' root systems will be too aggressive and adversely impact my existing trees? My hope is that the modest amount of direct sun and active pruning will help restrain their vigor -- is this realistic?
