Hi,

I wonder how does the fruit taste?
Sweet or what?

I believe it's a ficus sycomorus/ sycamore. Due to looking like a sycamore tree. It's also called an Egyptian fig tree, not to be confused with the common fig(ficus carica) species cultivated in Egypt. Fruits are grown on the main trunk unlike the common fig, which are from the leaf nodes.

Since the fruits are red and not orange might actually be ficus trichopoda(swamp/ hippo fig). And the leaves look a lot bigger in the OP's post, which ficus trichopoda has. Ficus sycomorus has smaller leaves, from the pictures i've seen.

All I want to know is;

Can they be grown in full sun in my zone and what do they taste like?

Oh, and do they need a specific pollinator and are they self-fruitful?

I did further research and it's actually looks like the Elephant ear fig/Giant Indian fig(Ficus auriculata/ roxburghii). Except the fruits are green and not red? But could be another type, since they're more than 400 ficus species? TT has seeds for sale and I saw some on Amazon and ebay. I'm pretty sure you can have them in zone 9, someone on the TT commented that there was a large spciemen in Orlando,FL z9. Might have to protect it when younger for maybe the first few years though.
