moving figs with leaves outside

I overwintered two of my figs outside (not leafing out yet) and three in my garage. Of those three, two leafed out a few weeks ago (the one that hadn't broken dormancy was put outside and hasn't leafed out yet).

I have been putting the two leafy ones outside on sunny days and back in the garage at night. I'm getting tired of all the back and forth and am wondering if I can just leave them outside now. Temps at night are still only in the 40s (43, 46 degrees, somewhere around there). I don't expect any more frosts and would bring the figs inside if we did get a really cold night under 40 degrees.

Will the leaves get hurt in 40-degree temps at night? If they do get cold damage, I assume they would drop and then the figs would just produce new leaves? I'm in zone 7a (upgraded from 6b a few years ago). Figs would be out of the wind against a wall of the house.

thanks!
