So I live in zone 7a in Maryland (very close to 6b) and have 2 fig trees in pots that range from 3ft to 4ft. I have heard of people having fig trees in the ground that they don't protect here, but I've also heard that if the tree is too small it's not going to survive the cold. Are my trees big enough to plant in the ground or should I wait til they're bigger? I'm thinking of planting one of them and keeping the other in that shed you see in the pic during the winter just to test it out.

(I realize the 2 tiny ones aren't big enough.)
