I just did one two weeks ago..........

If you can see some nice healthy roots forming, cut it from the mother tree with a knife....and try to get some of the wood from the main tree with your cut. Try not to damage any roots when you make your cut. Plant it in a trade gallon or gallon sized pot using a light potting soil. Water it well, place a plastic bag (small garbage or shopping bag) over the pot. Cut a few small holes in the bag to allow some moisture and gases to vent. Place it in a shaded area. After a few days to a week you should be able to remove the bag.....the leaves will tell you when you can remove the bag. Keep the soil moist.....not soggy wet. Once you see good new growth on your shoot, very gradually move from the shaded area to more sunlight. The key word here is.........gradually!!
