Did my figs die?

We have brown turkey figs that have been growing on our property outside Atlanta for more than 20 years. This year we have no new growth on the main parts of the trees and only just now seeing new leaves push up at the base of the trunks. Did our trees die back in this last harsh winter and should we just cut them way back? One of the trees has been growing and fruiting for over 30 years. We had some problems last summer with a white fungus type disease on two of the trees/fruit that we could never identify and the trees are in different parts of our property. Can anyone help?

yes it must have died close to soil line,due to harsh Winter.
It will grow back fast,from the roots.
When it start growing,select three new trunks and eliminate all others,dead and live trunks.
