I beleive that 'Magnolia' is a Brunswick fig variant.
I had 3 different Brunswick variant figs that I just destroyed,
b/c they (rain/humidity) spoil so easy here in NJ.
I presume that FL is not anywhere more dry.

what part of Florida are you in? Florida has several distinct climates, You can be a serious figmaster in northern part of the state, in central part you can be a fig journeyman and in the southern part you can be (like me) a figgrowerwannabe....

George is right about the high humidity and more likely than not the figs will split due to heavy rains. We do get much more heat than NJ to possibly allow some figs to ripen in between rains. I would not remove them until you needed the space for a known better performer in your area. More comments to come after you reply with what area are you located in...

Tampa Bay fig grower here. Figs grow in abundance here. Tarpon Springs has a large number of Greeks, and most of them have fig trees in multipe varieties. All of my 14 trees (including new cuttings) grow fine here and the fruit never splits if the trees are in rich soil with a layer of mulch on top.

South Florida can indeed be a challenge, but you just take precautionary actions, like, you can grow them in large containers with which you can make a container cover for the rainy season(s).

No matter what the problems, in Florida, you can grow figs and reap the benefits. It's always harder for our northern and western friends. Drought and cold are the real killers.
