Fig Tree ill ?

This Spring i checked in on my fig tree and i noticed that 1 branch had dark spots on it, i noticed further today that the dark spots had a liquidy sap on it and the "bark" on the branch rubs off. Not sure if i should cut off the entire limb or just watch and wait.
