Highest priority for Brown Turkey

I'm in SE WA, Clarkston, to be exact, and I have a brown turkey waiting to be planted. I thought I knew where it was going, but with shovel in hand, I'm second guessing myself.

Option one: North side of house, full sun, protected from high winds from the East by my Garage (though the garage is about 35 feet away), fairly close to 6' chain link fence which would be useful for winterizing.

Option 2: South side of house, seems to be slightly warmer in spring, though zero protection from winter winds and nothing to help with winterizing. If planting relatively close (within 10-15 feet) of a foundation and septic tank isn't a problem, I could get it into a pretty decent microclimate on the south side of the house. I haven't been able to find anything on how risky that idea is, however.

Watering/mulching/soil type is essentially the same both locations.

Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated-I'm kicking myself for an impulse purchase...I *know* better! (But what fun would it be without impulse purchases?)

thank you-

Laurel
