Transplant Fig?

I have a fig tree growing/fruiting pretty close to the house wall, about 12 ft now.

I wish I had it planted not so close to the house and wish to transplant in fall.

Would it die in trying to transplant?

You mentioned 12ft. now.
Is this in height or distance from the house?

If it is distance then in my opinion you have nothing to worry about.

If it is closer and it is 12ft tall then yes, wait till Fall while it is dormant and dig as big of a rootball as you can handle and move it.
If it is a recently planted tree and really doesn't have that great of a rootball then you might want to trim the tree down so that the roots can keep up with the tree the folloing season.
