How to best net a fig

fluffyfinch

Howdy! This year my young fig trees have finally begun to sprout quite a few figlets, and my "Bifara" fig has already been the subject of attack by a squirrel (furry rat). So I went ahead and netted it, tying the bottom closed. No more problems so far.

Except this: the branches are still growing, and all the tips are trying to grow through the netting or are becoming bent. Do I have to untie the bottom and adjust the netting every few days, or is there some other way to rig the netting so that I don't have to bother with this and be done with it until the figs are ripe (quite some time away still)?
