Fig tree dormant

It's June 5 and my 3-year-old fig tree shows no leaves, no buds, no other sign of life than brown bark. No black at all.

It was under 1" grid plastic netting for the last year, to keep birds away, but otherwise treated like similar things. Last year at this time it had everything fig trees are expected to have, aside from mature figs. They were minis.

This is, according to the tag, a "Brown Turkey Fig ficus carica, self-pollinating, winter hardy and" ever-bearing.

The tag also says Zone 5. We're zone 7. It was sold by our Southern States Co-op for $30, size 3.84 gal.

It's never been in drought, never sprayed on or anywhere near, and planted by an experienced gardener.

Based on the smaller amount of furnace oil we burned this year it was not a severe winter. Is there anything to be done to bring it out of torpor?
