Pinching question

Pinching question...Have a brown turkey in ground. It started new shoots from the bottom. They are now about 18" talk and have about 5 leaves on them. If I pinch the tree will only be 18" talk...is this correct or am I missing something?

I don't think you should pinch until you have the tree's shape established. The first couple years are about shape (although getting some fruit is nice). Rest assured, any fruit less than 18 inches from the ground will be enjoyed by a critter of some variety.

I don't pinch until my trees get to about this size.
