Brown Mule variety?

I live in what was once my grandparents house in west georgia zone 7b. 40 years or so ago they transplanted a cutting from my great grandfather's fig. Before my grand mother died I had asked her if she knew the variety of the figs. She said without hesitation BROWN MULE. I've now lived here several years and love the fresh figs that I never enjoyed as a child. I can not find anything about BROWN MULE variety and I don't believe it is Brown Turkey. Has anyone else ever heard of Brown Mule? Was it perhaps a regionalism for a more common named fig?
