Encanto Farms question

Hi all. New to the forums and new to figs. Have been gathering tons of information from here in the past couple of weeks and I thank-you all.

I've decided to add a Smith to my upstart collection and notice that the Encanto Smith has an added 'JP' after it in the listing. Actually several listed varieties have letters too, 'FN', 'SX', 'EB', 'GE', etc. Can anyone maybe enlighten me as to what these letters signify?

They are the initials of who gave Jon the initial cutting. This helps clear up naming issues that arise from: a) two (or more) figs using the same name and b) one fig using multiple names.

It is his attempt to differentiate different figs.

Thank-you, it has been the only place I have seen the letters and a google search was of zero help. =)
