black spanish fig problems

Hello everyone. Im having some problems with my San PieroÃ¯Â¿Â½ (black spanish fig). The leaves on the top half of my tree are very small and deformed alittle. The bottom half is strong and growing like crazy. The tree is in a pot and about 3' tall. I did root prune it very late last fall. Im in zone 5 south west burbs of Chicago. The tree was given to me by someone that was moving and wanted it to go to a good home. Thanks fespo

Your cultivar is not good for Zone 5.
It will not get ripe properly,due to lack of Summer heat.
Deformed leaves= fig mosaic virus,or if not ,then,stress from not having ideal growing condition.
I also want to not ,that I hate when people give away to other people free items that were not working for them,without telling the whole reason,why they get rid of it,and making up a nice story.
