To give you an idea of what it may be > Im in z5 have temps in high 80s and now for next 5 days will be in 90s and my plants grown in containers up to 30 gallons need watering at least every other day, the smaller ones daily now.
I notice your zone 10.

I am in zone 8A and it's around 100F here now, I check moisture under mulch and also with moisture meter, my in-ground trees seem to need water only every other day (maybe because of clay soil here).

are you suggesting watering everyday because trees are in container or because of high temperature?.

I was told by HD garden guy here not to water often as it will displace air which is required for roots. guess this is specific to clay soil here.

Its a possibility. Because of heat and grown in a container, inground is different.
