Had my 1st home grown fig today

I had my my 1st home grown fig of the season today. It was a Desert King I bought in mid April. It came with 20 little figlets. Only a few figs were able to ripe. We shared three ripe figs and it was sooo good.

I was very excited I was able to harvest ripe figs in San Francisco 'cause weather was cool here.

Has anyone in San Francisco bay area else picked any figs yet this year?

Congratulations Sam, Wellcome to the madness.
I'm not in SF but I've been eating Celeste and Tiger for about the last three weeks.
You'll need to get some later bearing varieties (So do I)so you can eat them all summer and fall.

Happy fig growing and congrats. I am glad it tasted good!

I have yet to figure out how to tell when they are ripe.

Mike they are ripe when the figs droop, or go limp on the stem.
