Fig Runner Propagation w/pics

I decided to apply my strawberry method on my Celeste Fig.
I buried the lowest branch in a pot and held it down with two bricks.
I think it turned out pretty good because there are 3 branches underground coming into the main trunk at the crown.
The branch had some small figs.
I left some leaves out thinking it will help bring more energy to the soil.
Will it have roots before the tree goes dormant?
Does this method make sense?
Any suggestions? Thanks

I'd make sure that the growing tip is exposed back up out of the soil.. so the branch comes off the donor tree, goes under the soil and then comes back out again.

If I understand you correctly,
where I cut on the mother tree
can't be the top of the central leader?

Nice pics. What camera do you use?

Thanks.
I have a Sony Cybershot 5MP!
Actually those pics were too large.

I had to add more bricks to hold down the brown wood,
so I could get the green shoots out. Is this better?

I could not tell from your beautiful pics if you buried the entire tip of the branch, or if you left some of the growing tip exposed. If you buried the entire growing tip, that would be a somewhat unusual method of layering for figs.
To tell if you have roots you will either have to take the chance and sever this plant from the mother plant and see if it continues to grow, or carefully dig it up and see if roots are present. Since you appear to have three branches growing out of the potting medium, it is entirely possible that each of these branches has roots, and could become plants of their own.

I thought that if I completely covered the branch, it would grow roots
and then shoot out from the same branch that went into the soil.

I think this tree gets less than 4 hours of sun,
so I want to try in a sunnier spot.
