Help with Air Layer not Rooting

I started an air layer June 11 (just over three weeks ago) but have yet to see any roots. I can see moisture inside the plastic bag. I do not see any signs of mold. The limb continues to thrive with leaves and fruit same as the rest of the in-ground tree that it's attached to.

Method: After removing about one to two inches of outer bark, I used a ziplock tied with twine to secure moist peat moss (the soily type, not the stringy type often used for decoration in crafts).

I successfully used this method four or five times last year with no failures. (Much easier than trying to root cuttings IMO.)

I don't recall how long this took last year, but it seems like I should be seeing something by now.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions about this...e.g., anything I can do to force roots...how long should I wait before calling it off?

Use said you've tried this type of moss in the past with success. Then all you need to do is give it more time.

Figs are unique. They all act differently.

One variant will root much quicker than another.

And then there are some,,,,,,,,,,like the one in question is going to take its' sweet time. LOL

Did you wrap it up with foil? I like to wrap it with foil at least two or three times around.

You probably do have roots in there just that you can't see them in the soil. I would leave a crack of light in the tinfoil and you will see the roots gather where the light is.

In the end, it just needed more time...roots showed up and the plant is now resting in my house after being cut from the main tree.
