Looking for a diagnosis

Big sections of branches are dying off. Saw dust is falling on leaves below the dying branches. The trees are 7 or 8 years old. The same thing happened last year.

This is so heart-breaking to look at a tree that you've grown for years!

Did some pesty insect get into the trunk of the tree?

RE: Looking for a diagnosis

Look up "three lined fig tree borer" and see if that is it.

Good luck.

RE: Looking for a diagnosis

Thanks for the tip. That could be it. I'll cut off the dead wood tomorrow and see if I can find one.

RE: Looking for a diagnosis

It's fig borers. I cut off dead areas and found the caterpillars. I aggressively pruned it out so maybe I can put off their demise.
