A nice pair!

Last year I bit the bullet and root pruned, made Al's mixture and transplanted. I had lots of leaves but no fruit.

This year I thought I had removed any early season fruits to promote a good later crop and it seems to have worked well on 2 of my 3 trees, they are covered with fruits about the size of a quarter, small and hard but still plenty of growing season left.

My third tree is my tallest and it has fruits but not nearly so many as the other two, perhaps a couple of dozen at most. But I did find two fruits that I missed pinching off back in May and I've been watching them closely ever since. They are quite large, about the size of a handball, but hard up until this weekend when they started to lighten in color and soften up. Today I snipped them off, they are soft but not mushy, a perfect pair for tomorrow's dessert!
