Black Jack Fig

Hello! This is my first post!

Today I bought a Black Jack Fig at my local nursery! I live in ND/SD so growing tropicals is a challenge, but I love it. Any tips for a beginner fig grower? I researched it a bit, and its in a nice big pot with Schultz palm and citrus soil (I have had excellent luck using that with my other tropical fruit trees).

It had 2 big ripe figs on it which I ate immediately, and they were incredible. I can't wait for the rest to ripen!

keep indoors by a bright window then only take outside on really warm days. keep it potted year round and fertilized

I have had an in-ground Black Jack for about 10 years now. They are great! You made a good choice.

If you ever do decide to try planting a BJ cutting outdoors, they naturally top out at about 8 feet so it might be a good one to try that on. You might be able to pull it off with only covering it for the winter -- get advice from other fig experts who have done this, I never have had to.
