Premature Fig Drop

This spring I decided to plant out a 3 year old Brown Turkey fig that hitherto had been grown in a container. It grew just fine, but now I am seeing figs drop prematurely (about thumbnail size) and leaves starting to yellow & curl up, see pics.

It's odd as it produced a fairly decent crop when in the container. I am trying to figure out probable cause; is it a fertilizer issue (while in the container I fertilized with Osmocote, but did not fertilize when planting out) or is it weather related? Apart from a July heat wave it has been an extraordinarily cool & wet summer here in the northeast. Or is it in shock from being planted out? Any input appreciated.
