Yes. It grow great in heat. Have panache in full sun. It's been 115 these past few days and over a hundred for a couple months now. My panache has been growing fast and producing figs well here in full sun. Always use lots of mulch and amend soil with compost. If you get a new tree, you need to introduce it very slowly to the weather you have their to prevent transition shock issues.

Thanks toucan! Usually I plant trees in the fall. I'm not sure that is the right time for figs. We do have winters here, but they are seldom very cold or very lengthy. I'd say a typical winter might see low 20's a time or two for a night or two. So far, the biggest I've seen these fig trees as transplants is maybe 3 feet tall. Have you seen the larger, or do I just have to get them small and wait a few years? Thanks.

Hey there. My favorite green fig is Desert King. It's a very nice fig and a breba fig, so it will give you an early crop. I wouldn't grow it as your only fig, but if you're going to grow a few then it's a nice one to have.

There are some nice dark figs too. Hardy Chicago and Violette de Bordeaux are both very nice.
