Two Old Figs

Arvid_60

We just purchased a mid century home with two neglected, decrepit looking figs in the corners of the yard. Lots of new growth mixed with stalks of ancient dead wood. Not sure if they should be cut down, pruned to with in an inch of their life, or thinned. They need trimming no matter, because they have started to impact the roof and fence line. Once we are settled, I will be able to photograph them and post.

One has good fruit production, the other, older more decrepit tree has little fruit and a great deal of dead wood.

Any guidance would be appreciated.
