No, this variety don't need caprification.
For my is one of the best variety, high sugared and flavoured.
Their weight are +/- 70 gr.

I thought this was a late variety -- how did you have ripe fruit so early in the season?

Yes, It is a late variety, usually middle August in my zone, but when It is growing in a pot, you can earn two weeks.
I have an other fig tree of the same variety, less dark, that ripen one week later, may be due to little different selection of the same variety.
