I had to order via mail order and it will not arrive till November. (The local nursery only had Celeste, Brown turkey and black mission). I live in Maryland and it seems a bit late to me to be planting a fig, but that is what they suggest for my area. Should I call them and ask to ship sooner?

Also, my brown turkey, which is about three years old and probably 7'x6', is loaded with figs. They are not ripe yet, but I just noticed that there are a bunch of new little figs all along the new grown from this season. Is this normal? I wonder if I'm putting too much of my compost with chicken manure on it....that stuff is better than miracle grow and the tree is growing like gangbusters!

(Well, actually, we did find three ripe figs on the tree today that my kids promptly inhaled, but the rest are not ready). It was funny, after eating hers, my three year old started poking in the tree looking for more!
