White Triana is a good fig to get but there are several types of Paradiso. The one from Joe is OK so far but it is only in it 2nd season. I'll give it at least another 2 years.

As far as protection, you'll be better served to put in pots and store in a cool place during winter. If you want to plant in-ground, wait until tree is a bit more mature-say 3 to 5 yrs old.

After that be prepared to do some work as far as protecting in-ground- whether being buried by dirt or cut down for winter and covered with tarps, insulation, and/or leaves.
