Sweet, superb with an rich lingering flavor that makes this one of the best tasting figs. My appreciation to a good friend overseas for sharing this keeper.

I have not perceived high sensibility to rain with GdSJ, it is not a winner in this matter but it has a decent rain resistance, of course, it depends on the rain intensity. My climate is rainy, but the rains usually are like drizzle instead of strong rains. I can get good GdSJ figs, an impossible mission with other varieties like Madeleine des Deux Saisons or Figue d'Or, for example.

Pierre Baud, in his book "Le figuier pas a pas", says that "GdSJ is a difficult fig to transport due to a thin skin, however it bears rain fairly well"

Leon, I think you will enjoy this figs next seasons, it improves with age (more productive) and it is said that in dry climates like yours it can dry on the tree, getting a super sweetness taste. Probably I never will see it, my climate is very humid.

By the way, it is a vigorous tree, the fig in the picture is my father's in law GdSJ, it only is three years old and is more than 3 ft high.

Congratulations Leon and thanks for the nice pictures.
I agree with you, it is one of the best tasting varieties and, in my opinion, a bit forgotten variety.
It is a fruitful and early breva producer and it is, by far, the best tasting of my brevas.

This fig Does not like rain,in it was it was suffering badly in my rainy climate.

Leon, that is great information. Hoping mine will be big enough next year to let me try it!

@Herman, that is good information. Luckily we in the high altitude SW dont really have that problem for the most part. I have had great tasting Brunswicks here.

We've had some rain here but Jose is right, Albuquerque only gets about 7-8 inches of total rain fall per year. In the past week, we have had periods of rain but this fig did not split and it did not sour. Only time will tell but it's an excellent tasting fig and I credit Axier for sharing this with me.
