Planted 'common' fig. Did I do it right.

Hello,

So about two months ago I got a common fig plant there was only two leaves but loads of buds so I put it into greenhouse to try and encourage the buds to open and grow, and now they have. It's growing well!

So I looked up how to plant it said restrict it's roots to help fruiting!
Now I didn't have paving slabs so I used old wooden slats from a fence lined with weed guard fabrics. The bass was filled with broken pots.
The soil, now the area is dry very dry at times! so I have mixed in reduced peat multi purpose compost and commercial manure as well as a load of horticultural grit I also included a small (very small amount of the clay soil from other area to help bulk up,) but I added about a thimble full of rooting hormone to the whole mix,

I know last winter it was very very wet so that's why I planted it in the driest part of garden. It's in full sun from sun up till (in winter 3-4pm)and sun down. So it will get enough light.

Is there any tips you can give on care? At moment as you can see in image it's two large stems abd loads of small short ones.

Thank you
