lower leaves on new fig planting

Hi,

I recently planted a fig sapling from a friend's backyard into a pot. It's starting to grow new leaves now, but I'm wondering if I should cut/pinch off the new leaves at the base so that it spends more energy growing new leaves at the top. Or, should I just leave it as is?

just depends on if you want a single trunk or multi trunk fig tree.

Thanks, I think I'll take some off and leave one or two. Don't think I need that many branches!
