Hi, I have read so many of these fig posts and am excited about trying to plant some of my own fig trees here in Ft. Worth, TX. Does anyone have a good idea where to get some cuttings?

RE: Fig cuttings

I would say better you get it from a person that has a good fig that bears fruit in your area. A neighbour would be a good donor. From my experience, it is better to get a cutting from a fig that bears fruit and you are sure 100% of it. Even if you can choose the most fruiting branch this would make it a better choice ;).

RE: Fig cuttings

Drop me an email here in the late winter, and I'll send you some cuttings of my one kind-of-big fig tree, lol. It's a very yummy Italian fig that bears often. It's purple-brown with a closed eye, kind of pink inside (not red).

It's still kind of small, but I do prune it to let lots of light in. That is, if we haven't had a severe winter. It does lose wood if it gets really, really cold for here.
