Mission figs with mostly white fruit inside?

Hi, all.

I have a 2-3 story tall fig tree on the property I live on. It's been here for ions. I am very new to figs. I believe it to be a Mission fig tree by the color on the outside (dark purple, drying to nearly a black color). From what little I've read, the fruit on the inside should either be dark red or strawberry in color. I'm finding that a lot of the figs are very white inside with some strawberry coloring mixed in.

Is there something wrong with the fruit/tree? I have never attended to the tree at all...and it seems that no one else does either. So, it's basically self-sustaining. As a result (and from what I've read), I believe that it is severely under-watered. Could this be the cause of the color of the fruit in addition to the reason why so much fruit falls off the tree?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Michelle
