Sounds like spider mites - could have come from anywhere. Miticides or summer/perfect oils are the normal treatments. If it's an edible fig, be sure any miticide is safe for food plants. Pure, cold-pressed neem oil, properly applied is a good remedy, as is a regular sharp spray of water blasted over all leaf/branch surfaces, but the water remedy is only temporal & will leave vestige populations to reproduce. A 50/50 mix of water and rubbing alcohol spritzed on the plant is also very effective, but like the water remedy, it won't get them all.

Do you spray your Figs trees on a regular basis or is not necessary. I used Triazicide twice this season. My Figs are potted and the Pots are digged in the Garden. I have beautiful Garden soil because I bought the Lot from the company who bought the Tobacco farm and instructed my contractor not to touch my soil. I doubt my soil has any bugs.
