 o
Ebay Vendor?

Good morning. I need some guidance this morning!
Though I've been successful with rooting some cuttings, it looks like the Celeste cutting has just shriveled up. Sad, isn't it?
I see on ebay a vendor called Crystalsgroves is offering small Celeste plants pretty inexpensively, and I was wondering if anybody here has heard of them or had any dealings with them.
It seems from what I'm reading here that there are a number of vendors who sell incorrectly labeled plants, and I would really like to get an actual Celeste at this point. (Yes, fig snobbery is setting in!)
Perhaps the advice I'll get is "You get what you pay for, and for 5 bucks, what do you want?"
:)

Thanks!

-Ann

Ciao Ann, don't worry about fig snobbery, this is what keeps alot of headaches down with mislabeled fic plants. It helps to keep the varieties pure and ensures we get what we want. I don't know this vendor at all, I do trust a few on here that sells fig plants, Maybe send this person an email and check to see if they reply and how knowledgeable they are about the Celeste variety. Just throw a few test questions, nothing wrong with only wanting what you payed for. Hey, five dollars is still five dollars no?

There some forum members that sells on ebay & I would buy from them. You get good advise and the right Celeste variant. It was yesterday where one of my friend told me he is getting rid of his Celeste likely for the following reasons -- drop too many figs as well as not enough heat units to ripen crop. Space could be devoted to another variant that delivers. His tree is probably 5 yrs old.

Finally broke down and bought this little fig from the eBay vendor today! I'll let you know how it turns out--right away in terms of the plant itself, and next year or so when it makes fruit!

angel man, it should get here by the end of the week according to the information i just received from him. this is my first venture into fig growing. i decided to try to grow figs since i usually buy them at the farmers market for $4 to $5 a basket. when my neighbor prunes her black mission tree she promised me some cuttings which i will attempt to root.

My eBay plant came this week and is healthy, with a good root system. It's about 18 inches tall. I was a little concerned before it arrived because I'd read in another post about Celeste from an eBay vendor having root nematodes, but this plant doesn't have any knots on the roots. It looks good!

RE: Ebay Vendor?

I recently purchased (2) Celeste fig trees from Angel-Man on Ebay, I had posted the Message how to check for nemotodes and follow another members advice, and both plants seem fine. Has anyone else purchased theses plants and Im curious how they have done with them. Are they truly Celeste??? Did they produce good quality figs. Im also curious about the use of Mircle Grow figs4fun website notes that he uses it. Thanks again MTD
