2nd season in Phoenix

I have no idea what type of tree my neighbor has. It's a big one. It ripened a couple of months ago, a huge crop. I just noticed that it has a breva, is that the right term for the second crop? Anyway, I'd like to get that crop as I missed the first crop and have no other source of figs. When should I start watching for it to ripen? They're pretty firm and green right now.

This tree is hanging over a 6 foot fence, draping all the way to the ground. I should be able to get about 20 lbs of fruit.

I'll plant a tree of my own this winter. Can I plan on fruit the first year?
