Giuseppe, I've got the perfect tree to try oiling on next year. I wish the subject would have come up in Aug. as a reminder, and if it did, I missed it. Here are a couple of pictures of the waste I will suffer. Thanks for the positive report.

Good that the figs ripened for you.
The experts say (as I have read) that oiling works best when applied a week+ or two before the expected ripening time and it will help expedite ripening by a week or so.
Knowing the expected ripening time probably comes with experience after seeing some swelling.

you will have no unriped figs next year,if you stard
your oiling by the midle of Aug.
Foolish pleasure,
I use a Qtip ,and oil my figs everyday and stop oiling
a day or so before I pick them,never do the oiling if the figs are wet ,I do mine after the sun has already dried the figs.Ciao,

Paully, this is a fig I bought for a LSU Gold which it is not, so I named it LSU Gold (not). It make a delicious sweet and juicy breba that's bright yellow with amber pulp. Those in the picture is of the main crop. A few have ripen but the tree keeps growing and adding figs until the colder temps set in. I keep it because I love the breba. I've been trying to ID it ever since I found out it wasn't a LSU Gold. Any guesses are welcome. I sure would like to know.

I assume you are oiling only the fruit and not the leaves, trunk, branches or roots? Undiluted, food grade oil and not an oil which doubles as a dormant spray?
