Fig tree wrapping

I live in zone 6 and am going to overwinter a container-grown fig tree by wrapping it with burlap and moving it into the unheated basement of a small barn until next spring. Do I need to take any additional measures for protection against frost? What's a suitable wrapping material if so?

You should have more than enough protection from cold. Being underground the temperature shouldn't fluctuate quickly. I've had uncovered figs in a garage get to 10 degrees with no damage because the temperature dropped slowly.
But I would take precautions against rodents.
