Wintering over a new air layer ????

Hello all,

Thanks to all who lend their expertise to this forum.

I can't seem to find an answer to my question. I have searched and read this site for hours and picked up a lot of valuable information though.

I have only fond memories of picking and eating Figs with my Grandfather nearly 50 years ago, he wasn't with us long enough to learn the tricks of the trade. Now that I am nearing retirement age I will have the time learn about and care for them.

A good friend of mine gave me a recently potted air-layer. (5-6 days) It is doing well as far as I can tell. I have been keeping it outside during the day and bringing it in at night.

My questions:

1. Should I keep it growing inside for the winter or leave it out and let it go dormant then bring it into the garage till spring?

2. It it potted in regular potting soil, should I re-pot it into a looser mix as recommended by most in this forum?

I will post a Pic if I can figure out how.

Thanks,

Mike
