Yup agree with herman looks identical to my petite negri from Edible Landscaping. Both leaf & Fruit looks the same I was lucky enough to have gotten my 3 figs to ripen before the rains started very tasty fig.

I was thinking along the same lines.

Thanks for the help ID'ing this variety. Am I wasting my time trying to cultivate this variety in southern NY, 6A? Seems I get plenty of fruit but they rarely ripen.

I would think that Marseilles Black VS, and Hardy Hartford would ripen earlier for you.

I'm in Connecticut, zone 5, and those two ripen about the same time, and are my two earliest to ripen.

Plus, they are able to handle some rain, if not to much at one time.

Inground i do not answer but in pot it would not be a waste of time.
My zone is colder and its not waste of time for me.

Thanks for the encouragement Martin, I'm on the border of 6A-6B but this is a few years now they have not ripened.

We'll try again next year.

This Summer was the worst,in growing fig tree.Rain galore,cool sun less days,etc.
The older the tree the earlier it get ripe,but Summer have to be decently warm and sunny.
So it is not the fault of the cultivar.
It is the climate.
Next year you will be surprised.
