It can grow indoors, but will be growing weakly and the fruit if produced will be insipid indoors. Chill hours it's not a requirement for it to produce as the fig tree will grow even in tropical climate.

Thanks. This is what I need to know to formulate my long term plans for my indoor/outdoor fig

I'm a fig newbie, but as I understand figs need less than a day's worth of chill hours, don't they? Just long enough to drop leaves will dramatically improve the year's production, won't it?

Most (F.carica) figs do not get any 'chilling' (freeze temps)
when growing in 'balmy' California (USA) and the Mediterranean Sea region(s).

Still (thank you/us) they produce plenty of fruit.
