I was just to the lumber yard, and while there I picked out of the trash bin some plastic banding used to secure lumber stacks. I brought it home and cut it up, and it makes nice plant markers. Just thought I'd let you know it's recyclable. Gary

I much prefer to mark my potted plants with a "paint stick". The writing on the pots, or metal tags, etc. is permanent and will last for years despite UV sunlight and rain. They are much better than Sharpie or Foray permanent marker pens. The "Prang Metallic Marker" pens are the ones I have been using lately and they really work great. These can be found at any arts and crafts store. Dan

Great recommendation, danab. I recycle my yogurt, cottage cheese and sour cream containers for markers by cutting off the bottom and top rim, then cutting them vertically into 3/4"-wide strips. I'll try the Prang paint on them. C.J.
