Here's a few of the plants I plan on bringing.

false rosemary - a native scrub mint
    pagodas
    porterweed
    turk's cap
    lady banks rose
    unknown orchid
    bromilliads
    bleeding heart vine
    chickasaw plum - native
swamp lily - a type of crinum lily
    fortnight lily
    adam's needle yucca - native
    white and pink oxalis
    possibly some oakleaf hydrangea

raspberry plants - Let me know if you're interested in these. Mom let her plants go wild towards the end of summer last year and when she was cleaning up her vegetable garden last week she discovered that the raspberry plants had gone wild and rooted all over the place. I have close to 2 dozen plants sitting in pots behind in my backyard and there are still more plants that need to be dug up and potted.

If anyone is interested in any of the following plants let me know and I'll dig some up for you. If I don't hear from anyone then I won't bother bringing any of them.

Spiderwort - Virginia Bluebells - native
    Beautyberry - native
white flowering dogwood trees - native
    elephant ears
    soap aloe
    lipoipe

Kara, The area I am planning for my native area is under my pines so it gets shifting sun off and on during the day. Any thing that will do well there I would be interested in.

    Thanks for the offer!

I've been cleaning up old beds and doing some major weeding/pruning today. Sadly discovered that none (none!) of my cuphea survived the winter. If anyone has any to spare I would be happy to give them a home. I especially miss the batface - it had gotten huge and the hummingbirds loved it!

I have to remove the Rhinohorn Plantain from the trade list. I only have 2 stalks and both are WAY too large to dig. No pups are showing right now but maybe one or two will pop up before the swap. I'll keep watching.

Kate, I have a few "twinkle pink" cuphea up for grabs. I can save one for you if you want. My "Batface" made it through the winter but is pretty straggly looking right now but it did reseed a couple of plants.

I'm just bumping this up so it shows up ahead of the notice for the 2007 swap. Hope someone contacted the poor guy in Germany and advised him to post his request on the Exchange board!

Does anyone have any lion's tail to share? Mine died this winter and I'd really like to have another one.

    Kara

  • solstice98

Kara, my lion's tail (lion's mane) didn't come back either. I just bought one at Biosphere last weekend but I don't think it's big enough for dividing. I'll look at it and see if I can get a cutting off of it though. Does anyone know if they start from cuttings?

I have almost nothing but am coming for the fun anyway! I have a few cuban oregano plants and some four o'clocks and some birds nest sanservia. I'll take another peek and see what else but I have put so much in the ground, I don't have much left (yet) to share. Soon, very soon.
It will be a great day. I spent all this weekend with my kids at a horse show and next Saturday is all mine. I am looking forward to it.

I realize I didn't have any exotic plants to bring, but it's a moot point now that I know I won't be able to make it. I was SO looking forward to meeting you all. But I'm not giving up! There will be another swap somewhere soon. Y'all have fun! cora

As of this past weekend, I've decided I'm starting an herb garden so if anyone has any rosemary or other sun-happy herb, I would love a little cutting.

Cora - I'm sorry you won't be there!

    GOLDEN RAIN TREE!!

  • solstice98

A couple of you might remember my co-worker Calvon who helped me when I had my swap a couple years ago. She's a first time home-owner and a beginning-gardner. We loaded her up with all the left overs from that swap and I think overwhelmed her a little.

She works a second job on weekends and won't be able to come along, but she's ready for some new plants. Simple plants that don't require exotic care would be best. If anyone has extras I would love to be able to bring her a few things.

    Thanks,
    Kate

Tony-You are a riot and will be missed at the swap. I will have Felix leave a couple of GRTs and I will bring them to you myself! Ha-Ha!

Kate - We will pick out a plant or two from my plants for you to take to Calvon. You gotta encourage, or is that enable, when ever possible!
