Need your prayers this morning

I know this is off topic, but I need your prayers this morning. I have finally develiped diabetic retinopathy and have some bleeding in my left eye. I am heading to the retinal specialist to have surgery with laser too seal two vessels that are leaking dangerously close to my retina. I was handling things okay but now that the day has arrived I am a little worried and frightened. You guys are my friends and family and I desperately need your prayers as one of my fears has always been going blind. Well, it is off to the doctor. Linda

Linda Prayers are on their way. Can ya feel me holding your hand? And a big comforting hug too! I had a laser treatment yesterday to help with the withdrawal symptoms of quitting smoking. I know it's not the same but it didn't hurt a bit not even any discomfort. Lasers are wonderful things and you my friend are gonna be just fine.

Linda, my friend, I'm praying for you, the doctors, the procedure and that you will have peace. Deep breath....think of beautiful gardens and the One who created them.

Good luck Linda. Think positive thoughts. Hopefully with the technology they have today they will be able to fix you right up.

Linda, it's so good of you to stay on top of your diabetes the way you do. You are going to be fine, I just know it. People with diabetes can manage it, and do pretty well. It's when you're like my mother, you go around in denial and don't do the first thing to help yourself... I think there's a part of me that will never forgive her for leaving us so soon, simply because she didn't love herself enough to try... and I'm so encouraged by those who struggle with diabetes, but take a proactive approach to it. You're a brave and strong woman. My Aunt Mina is diabetic also, and she's like you - she's proactive and stays on top of it. She's very healthy. Sure things pop up - she had to have the same eye procedure you're having. And it was very successful for her. So I'm confident you'll do very well.

Blessings and healing thoughts going your way!

Well, it took longer than expected because I had developed two anuerysms since last week, but we were able to seal them all off. Doc said I will be blurry for several days and there may be some dark specs but they would go away. Well, the blurries have already gone and so far no dark specs. Of course the eye is sore and the whole left side of my head is achy, but I can handle that. Of course I have been driving around and doing more than I should, but he gave me no real restrictions other than not reading alot. I am stopping after this post and headed out to plant plants and sow more seeds in my mini greenhouse trays. I am having so much fun even though I am gardening mainly in pots. We are still house searching with the main problem being obtaining a mortgage with me as the principal. If God intends it to happen it will. Thank you so much for the prayers. My biggest problem is that I can not stand to be still and the minute he stapped my head lightly into the equipment I started hacing anxiety problems as I knew I could not move. Before it was over I was ready to scream and my legs were tapping etc trying to let myself know I could move without moving my eyes. I survived and now face cataract surgery sometimes in the next few months on my right eye and within six months on the left. At least I will have some time off to do things. Thanks everyone. Linda

Glad to hear it went well.

Getting a mortgage is only half the battle, the worst part is getting insurance.

You are never off topic here, this is the place to vent. Glad to listen.

Linda, I finally found this thread (thanks, Diane) and I'm so sorry that I missed it earlier, but so relieved that you came through this procedure safely. YAY!!! It IS scary when they want to do anything to your EYES, isn't it? (I had a BB-sized lump inside my lower eyelid lanced once, and it was ALL I could do to sit still while this pointy thing was aiming at my eyeball...I can really sympathise with you having to face this surgery, which must be even more worrisome with it being a direct part of the actual eye itself). Like Nicki, I'm so glad you are pro-active in your health care and stay on top of this stuff, as you should. You rock, girl! Hope this is the last time you have to face this particular issue!

Keep on takin' good care of yourself!!

    (((((Hugs for you)))))

Linda, just now tapping into the forum after quite a time away from it. I was dismayed to read your February 28 post that you were having this to do. It has been over two weeks since then. I trust you are on top of your world and beginning, or continuing in feeling better than before. Laser surgery is such a blessing. I pray that the best things are coming your way, miracles in your body, mind and affairs! And clear vision ahead!

I am still having some trouble with my vision and face cataract surgery in the near future. Will be seeing my opthomologist the first part of April, but God is in control. Got some good news. I have vision insurance and had gotten new glasses last year in August. Promptly lost them around November and have been using old glasses that I can see distance somewhat but not read well. Discovered that my vision plan allows new glasses beginning January each year and that not only can I get my regular glasses, but they also cover glasses for the computer as a second pair. That is what the glasses were that I lost. I am on cloud nine as I did not know where I was going to get a thousand dollars for both pair of glasses. Oh, God is in control and all is right with the world. Thanks so much everyone for your concern and best wishes. I can still see and I will continue to stay on top of things. Knowing each of you is out there sure helps. Friends who care are one of the most wonderful gifts you can recieve. I love and cherish each of you. Linda

Linda, glad to hear you're ok. Maybe the next time you can ask your family doctor if they can give you a very mild sedative or anti-anxiety pill to get you through the procedure.

My husband and I finally went and got new glasses. I used to have vision insurance and havent' been to the eye doctor since I lost it. I couldn't believe how expensive it was, but it's worth it. I had been wearing those reading glasses you get at the dollar store and the eye dr. said my eyes had gotten a lot worse. I got the no line bifocals. This is my first pair of bifocals and I'm still adjusting to them. I would never be able to see out of the ones with the lines. I also got that Crizal coating and I like it. My DH got the Transitions lenses that darken in the sun and he loves them. I should have gotten them, too. Next pair.
