My vet told me today about a Distemper Outbreak, and I don't mean to scare the peapods out of anyone, but passing along the info. Especially please if you have a puppy, or have a friend or family member who does, in Brevard County, please pass along the alert. Be extra careful and watchful for your pups! xoxoxo

The distemper virus is transmitted through air, and resembles a common cold or kennel cough, with hacking and nasal discharge initially.

But it can quickly lead to pneumonia and death.

Puppies are at the greatest threat from the disease, Brown said.
